In case anyone is looking for it, the default username and password for both ssh access and for the web interface is:
user: root
password: admin

Seeing as the web interface insisted on me logging in I had to modify the two html scripts like this:

http://root:admin@192.168.10.1

which worked fine.

Also, I did all the operations over a wired network rather than wireless. There is no way I'd trust wireless for something like this!

One last thing, the redboot script referenced is giving a 404, this one worked for me:

It worked. To those who follow: Keep in mind that it really does take a long time (around 20 minuites) to for Redboot to complete one of the 'fis create' operations, and there is no feedback of any sort during that time.

Also, I had to use the method outlined in the message by 'NoRouter' dt. Jan 26th, 2008 at 7:49 pm at http://uselesshacks.com/?p=23 in order to roll back the 0.7.2 r3 firmware to 0.7.1 before I could do anything else. (That process also required patience... I only got it to work on the 3rd or 4th reboot.)

notworking: the name of the vmlinux file ends in "l7", as in the letter "l", and not the number "1"

I hope this helps!

I'm having problems with your instructions. It is after telnet to redboot.
I don't need to press ^C as it shows following
It shows 'no image 'vmlinux.bin.17' found
Illegal command: ""

fis init is not a problem but the following command doesn't become successful. After an 2 hours I pressed enter to get connection lost. I am trying to install 7.09 and using your files.

Thank you.

I'd recommend reading up on http://wiki.openwrt.org/OpenWrtDocs/Hardware/Fon/Fonera , specifically the section on "Unbricking".

[...] OpenWRT on the Fon Fonera is one of the most popular posts on this site, however there’s a few rough spots, as it’s more of a set of notes from my own personal experience rather than a polished How-to. There’s several places where someone might fall through the cracks if they’re not using a very similar configuration to mine, or simply aren’t reading my mind. [...]
