Electronik Tribulation Army gone white-hat(ish)?
If you took a look at the slides for Monday’s lecture (or were there in-person), you might recall that the last slide of content contained quotes from the ETA’s current site on the Internet, eoeta.com. The new leader, “Xon”, has disavowed the actions that led to the previous leader’s arrest, and is very firm in stating that the new ETA is “ethical” and no longer engages in illegal activities.
Registration on their forums has also opened up, and I was surprised that Xon made the goodwill gesture of activating the account I created the night before my lecture. Here’s a direct link to their forum section:
There are still posts on the forums that go back to just after Jesse “GhostExodus” McGraw’s arrest, before the ETA’s attempt to transform into a white-hat organization, so there is some pretty interesting reading there. Registering an account and having it approved by an admin is required to gain access to the forums, however the process seems to go pretty fast.
Is the Electronik Tribulation Army really a white-hat group now? While Xon may feel strongly about the transformation, he may find it difficult to bring the members in line for it. With members like “E.T.A FIXER” (aka DarthAnonymous, TrashBagTeddy, etc.) that continued to troll the comments sections of this site, and scroll insults (and creative ASCII art) in this site’s IRC channel long after the arrest, other ETA members may find it difficult to convince others that they have truly abandoned their blackhat ways.

I would like to point out that Fixer and other members of ETA that are still on the forums have personally agreed to go white hat. I know that some habits die hard, but we are working extremely hard to change the way everyone views us. As for Fixer himself, he did not agree to go white hat till just a few days ago, so you might want to give him time to adjust to the life style as it takes some getting use too.
Oh, root34d is no longer ETA. He left almost a month ago.

Another point you might want to take into consideration is the perception people may have of the fact that there are private members-only portions of the site.
While it’s absolutely your right to have private sections and only allow trusted members or subscription payers access, you may find that some people will believe *that* is where the shady activity takes place, out of the public eye. Transparency in your operations goes a long way towards showing people that you aren’t the organization you used to be, especially when the organization you used to be was un-apologeticly black hat.

Well if your not a douchebag, then consider this, you have profited from this incident, whether it be by gaining respect among your peers or professional accolaides. And whether or not I come to terms with your existance in lue of my missing comrade is irrelevant when it comes to what I am about to suggest.
His wife, she has a new born, and with ghost in prison/jail/whatever. She is in for a cold christmas, lonely mother, his childs first christmas without a father ect. I believe we all should send assistance to her and make every attempt possible to do so.
I am extremely interested in setting up a fund of some sort, but if you too are interested in this, I believe it is also a venue for us to work together on something positive, and bury the past, uniting under a common banner of good will.
Your name is worthy of trust, and would certainly make for a solid platform for donations,

Well, good luck to GhostExodus and his family. I wonder how this debacle will end up. I’d recommend ETA fixing some of the spelling mistakes on it’s sight if they want a more professional look.
Well thats good advice n3xus, But if you check, I believe that has been fixed. Ghost had a real bad dislexia problem and he would often mispell things or “Post July 4″ stuff like that. Were not offerring professional services or hosting an english language dictionary or a grammatorically correct referrence site. If your looking for lessons on proper grammar the ETA site is not where you should be going.
Besides, we have plenty of anonfags who predictably like to presume that they are all grammar professors so we have lots of consultation in this regard, thank you for your concern.

I’m still waiting ETA, where is your attack now, because apparently you misunderstand a message not to compare, and a message to script kiddies, but you my little friends have not backed up your threat, I’ve been waiting for the first attack to be launched, and yet nothing has happened, I find it pathetic and amusing at the moth, go ahead and dismantle me, I’ll be waiting.
